As we reflect on the changes that we want\u00a0\u2014 or need\u00a0\u2014 to make in the new year, how about adding an outdoors resolution to the\u00a0list?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD) offers some simple resolutions, any one of which should be easy for an outdoors enthusiast to stick to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Fish local<\/strong>. Make it a point to wet a line this year at one (or more) of the state\u2019s 50-plus waters in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azgfd.com\/fishing\/community\/\"><strong>Community Fishing Program<\/strong><\/a> that are seasonally stocked with channel catfish, bluegill and rainbow trout. This also is a great way to introduce a youngster to a fun, lifelong sport. Buy a general fishing license, or combination hunt and fish license, at <a href=\"http:\/\/azgfd.gov\"><strong>www.azgfd.gov<\/strong><\/a><strong> <\/strong>(youth under age 10 do not need a license).&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Support wildlife<\/strong>. Volunteers play a critical role in AZGFD\u2019s mission to conserve and protect more than 800 native wildlife species. Learn about volunteer opportunities at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.azgfd.gov\/volunteer\"><strong>www.azgfd.gov\/volunteer<\/strong><\/a>. Another way to make a difference? Consider making a donation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azwildlifehero.com\/donate\/?gad_source=1&amp;gclid=Cj0KCQiAvbm7BhC5ARIsAFjwNHsMTkr8-tRA0aoR2wFWyWAoAcPyGEc9_txLtlDIIfD8LtKn2QZHcMIaAg5FEALw_wcB\"><strong>here<\/strong><\/a>, or on your state income tax form (check the \u201cArizona Wildlife Fund\u201d box on your tax form), to help ensure a wildlife legacy for the future.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Take a youngster outdoors. <\/strong>Look for animal tracks together and identify the critter that made them. Armed with only a bird identification guide, embark on a \u201chunting\u201d expedition and see how many species you can find. A day in the field will create memories that last a lifetime \u2014 for both of you.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Be a wildlife viewer. <\/strong>Arizona provides some of the best <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azgfd.com\/wildlife-conservation\/wildlife-viewing\/\"><strong>wildlife-viewing opportunities<\/strong><\/a> in the nation, with more than 800 species of native wildlife. It\u2019s a fun, inexpensive activity that the entire family can enjoy.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Explore Expo. <\/strong>Save the dates \u2014<strong> <\/strong>March 29-30 \u2014 and experience the great outdoors at the department\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azgfd.com\/about-arizona-game-fish\/annual-expo\/\"><strong>2025 Outdoor Expo<\/strong><\/a> at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility. This popular event will feature everything from wildlife exhibits and family fishing tanks, to trying out firearms in a safe, controlled environment on the range. Admission and parking are free.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Be a conservationist. <\/strong>It\u2019s difficult to imagine what our wildlife populations might be like today without the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.trcp.org\/2020\/01\/10\/north-american-model-explained\/\"><strong>North American Model of Wildlife Conservation<\/strong><\/a>. Also, don\u2019t overlook small game or other species that can be hunted year-round.
